What everyone's been reading in May | 23.06.2024
Let's see what you lot were reading most throughout May.
👋 Hello
Happy Sunday all - I hope you’re all having a lovely day. I’m writing this on the Saturday as I’m actually quite busy on the day you're reading this as we’re celebrating my partner’s mum’s birthday. I hear it’s going to be a really hot and sunny day, so if you’r reading this with a slightly darker complexion than this morning, that’s great to hear!
I finished reading Demon Copperhead this morning (Saturday morning) and really enjoyed it. It’s a brilliant book that combines some very dark themes with a slight tinge of humour that makes it never really feel that dark and horrible, despite the fact that it really is - ha. I’ll write my review for it early next week.
Early on in the week, I started writing a blog article about my most-read articles of the month, so you can see that below.
This morning I was thinking about how sometimes I struggle to remember to post to all social media platforms. So I wanted to ask you which social media channel you most regularly engage or find me on? Poll below I’ll keep checking.
✍️ What I’ve posted since my last newsletter
THE 5 MOST READ ARTICLES ON MY BLOG IN MAY
“I looked back at previous months where I’d published this same article and it appears the top five same articles are consistently doing the rounds, just in different orders. So really there are no surprises here!
I wonder why these five articles are getting all of the SEO shine and others aren’t. I know if I’d started writing this article in this style earlier (where I encompass my whole website as opposed to just the most popular from the month) this would likely have featured a lot more Colleen Hoover as, overall, I think my review of her books are the most popular!”
📖 What I’ve been reading this week
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
As I mentioned above, I finished Demon Copperhead this (Saturday) morning and really enjoyed it. The blend of dark matters but a slight hint of humour in the writing made it very easy to listen to. I’ve never read David Copperfield which is what it’s compared to, so I’m not sure if it’s similar in that sense.
📚 Brand new paperbacks for £5 or less
As with every week, I have a look online and see what the best book deals are. Often I just hop onto Amazon and see what looks good first before looking elsewhere.
I’ve just had a look and you can get some absolutely huge books for £5 or less, which is going to save you a good amount of money if you buy a few as opposed to buying them in a shop.
Some of these are also in the 2 for £9 deal, so you could get them even cheaper!
I’ve gone and picked out some bangers for you:
