The new Housemaid book is out and I've reviewed it | 16.06.2024
Two book reviews, an article, a YouTube video and so much more for you to read in this edition!
👋 Hello
Hi all! I hope you’re all having a good week. I’m not even going to talk about the weather at the moment. I think this year has truly shown how global warming is affecting Europe! We’re having such erratic weather during a season when we should be having far more neutral warm weather.
Anyway, enough about the weather. On Wednesday I was in hospital for a biopsy on a mark on my face that the dermatologist at the hospital thought might need looking at. So I didn’t actually post any face pics for a couple of days as I had a big ugly bandage on my face. However, it’s a much smaller set of stitches now, so I’ll likely go back to normal tomorrow.
With this, I finished a couple of books and managed to get a review up too of the brand new Housemaid book! So keep scrolling for that!
If you’re a father, Happy Father’s Day and also COME ON ENGLAND!!

THE HOUSEMAID IS WATCHING BY FREIDA MCFADDEN BOOK REVIEW
“The Housemaid is Watching is both a book you could love because you loved the previous two and also a book you could despise. If you enjoy Millie and want to see where life has taken her ten years later and how this affects how she deals with things, you’ll love this book. But if you’re someone who’s seeking that clever twist and constant crashing plot points, you may find yourself disappointed. Is The Housemaid is Watching the best in the series? No. But it still felt great to pick up with Millie in what definitely felt like the continuation of a series this time instead of a possible standalone.”
📖 What I’ve been reading this week
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
My June Follower Pick is Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. So when the stars aligned and this finally became available for me via Libby, I picked it up and am about 100 pages in so far.
I’m really enjoying it! Yes, it’s depressing and nothing positive is happening Kingsolver’s writing style is making up for that by making Demon a really likable person and generally writing in a way that makes it all feel a little less pessimistic than it is.
The Housemaid is Watching by Freida McFadden
The Housemaid is Watching was my main focus for the week after I’d honestly forgotten I’d pre-ordered it and then I got a notification it was coming the next day! You can read my full review for it up above, but in short: if you enjoyed the two previous books, I reckon you’ll find something to like in these too!
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
This is the book I started off the week reading. After I finished No One Saw A Thing, this is the next book I then picked up. I’ve been reading it on and off for a couple of weeks now. I really enjoy it when I do pick it up, it’s just not a priority for me, unfortunately!
