Right I'm back properly now! Here's where I've been | 14.04.2024
It's been a busy couple of weeks so I've not been focusing on all of this. But I will be from now on and here's where I've been!
👋 Hello
Oh hey! Remember me? I used to post daily to social and have regular videos and blog posts up, but I haven’t for a while. Well, it feels longer than it’s actually been - it’s only been about a week and a half, but when you post as regularly as I do, it can feel like a lot longer to have off.
Over the past week, I’ve been in Nottingham, London and North Norfolk twice. I’ve not had a lot of time for reading and certainly no time for recording any content. Maybe one day when I’m more comfortable doing vlogging and such, I may be able to get some content out of it. But it was a week where I wanted to focus on family and friends (and myself of course).
However, I will be getting back to normal. As my partner goes back to work, I go back to work and my normal routine comes back in, I’ll be able to get some regular content going back up again, focusing on my reading again and more. So if you’ve missed me, don’t worry, I’m back again now!
So, I di actually post an article this morning on a recent book haul I did whilst out with some friends. And that’s literally the only article I have for you! But I still have minor reading updates to give you though!
✍️ What I’ve posted since my last newsletter
MY RECENT SIX-BOOK HAUL – WHAT BOOKS DID I GET?
“Here’s something a bit new. Because I’ve not been finishing any actual books lately to review, I thought I’d do an article on a recent book haul I had when I went into Sheringham which is a north Norfolk town absolutely filled with charity and book shops.
“As well as this, I recently received some book vouchers for Waterstones and National Book Tokens and so had plenty of money to go out and spend which made looking around one of the best places for books even more exciting.”
📖 What I’ve been reading this week
High Rise by Vanessa Lee
I’ve nearly finished High Rise. It’s reaching the “final third feeling” where the action is starting to ramp up and Lee is worrying less about building characters up and is focusing more on getting through the plot.
So far it’s been a very average read, unfortunately. It focuses on the impact of climate change whilst also telling the story of a couple of broken families at the same time. Neither of these has been particularly impactful stories or ones that I’ve found myself that interested in, unfortunately.
There’s always a chance this final third could completely change my thoughts though!
In Memoriam by Alice Winn
Then the other book I’ve managed to find some time for over the past couple of weeks has been In Memoriam. As I have this on audiobook, it’s been easier to quickly pop this on whilst I shower or pop out somewhere, so I’ve only read a couple of chapters or so.
It’s been absolutely brilliant - as everyone said it would. I’m not sure I’ve read a book that deals with the impact the war had on the humans involved so much. It’s a really impactful and heartbreaking read that really isn’t, as the war itself didn’t, taking any prisoners.
📚 Book deal - 99p Kindle ebook deals
Be more like me, go out and buy a shedload of books because impulse buying things we enjoy is the only way to stay happy and sane in this modern world.
I jest, just buy them because it’s very unlikely you’ll be able to find them at 99p ever again!
