Least productive month in history?!
I tell you what - having a baby makes you incredibly unproductive!
👋 Hello
Happy Sunday, everyone - can you believe it’s August already?! Dare I say only 4 months until Christmas?! Crazy.
Anyway, the past month has been a reckoning of fire! I’ve been getting about 2 hours less on average sleep, my work schedule has been all over the place and I’ve been busy even when I’m not working or trying to sleep looking after our newborn, so to say I’ve not had has much time or drive to get up and write articles, read books or record videos is an understatement.
I’m hoping over the coming couple of months as she grows older, I’ll be able to better balance my blogging platform with her sleep and wake patterns.
Thus, the newsletter below isn’t exactly rammed with content, but there’s still some stuff for you to check out of course, including a HUGE video!
👀 Bits to read and watch
Articles
The past month, as I said, hasn’t exactly been filled with writing but I have managed to get a couple of book reviews written.
The first was Marley’s Ghosts by JP Sheerin - my April follower book pick. Basically it’s got a good story intertwined with an OK story and some good characters. Read my full review for more.
Then, literally as of this morning, I’ve written a review of Orbital by Samantha Harvey, which is essentially a novella written in the form of a philosophical, elongated poem about Earth and humanity. I can appreciate the writing, but it wasn’t my sort of thing at all.
I’ve managed to record a couple of YouTube videos recently including a June reading round-up:
And a look at the very best books I’ve read so far this year:
📖 What I’ve been reading
My reading over the past month, like the rest of my productivity, has been very limited. I managed to finish The Ballad of Birdsong and Snakes, the Hunger Games prequel, halfway through July and I thought it was fiiiine. I’m currently reading The Ferryman by Justin Cronin, my August read and it’s verrryy interesting at the moment.

🤑 Brand new paperbacks for £5 or less!
As always, I like to try and find people some great deals on books. Yes, it’s easy to recommend cheap Kindle books, but sometimes we just want something tangible to hold, don’t we?
Well, Amazon offers some great paperback deals too, including many for £5 or less.
I’ve had a look through and picked out some of the big bangers:
